(WJAC) — There's a new art exhibit at Millersville University opening Friday evening displaying sketches of people who died from drug overdoses.
The exhibit features the sketch of Shawn Sinisi from Altoona who lost his life in 2018 to addiction.
"It's a beautiful project. I just feel like it really shows the person that was full of life and happiness," said Shawn's mom, Marianne.
These sketches show the person as a happy version of themselves before the addiction took over.
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Prosecutors have announced plans to seek the death penalty in the slaying of an off-duty Pittsburgh police officer shot to death in a street confrontation last month.
The Allegheny County district attorney's office informed the court Monday of intent to seek capital punishment should 30-year-old Christian Bey be convicted of first-degree murder.
Prosecutors also unsealed the homicide and firearms crimes criminal complaint against Bey in the July 14 shooting of 36-year-old Officer Calvin Hall during a street dispute in the Homewood neighborhood as a party was going on.
DUBOIS, Pa. (WJAC) — In an update to the saga surrounding former DuBois city manager Herm Suplizio, the DuBois Area United Way released a statement about its funds that the state attorney general accuses Suplizio of stealing.

When Attorney General Michelle Henry charged and arrested Suplizio back in March, among her allegations was that the now-suspended city manager stole over $20,000 from the local United Way, where he served as executive director until his resignation following the arrest.

NEW YORK CITY (TND) — New York City Mayor Eric Adams on Wednesday warned the U.S. higher education system may be “radicalizing” students.
The mayor's comment came during a reception celebrating Jewish heritage. During an address at the event, Adams reflected on the past academic year, which was full of anti-Israel and anti-American sentiments as students rallied in favor of Palestine.
“We have moved so far away from our patriotism and what really rooted us in the success in the first place,” he lamented.
MERCED, Calif. (FOX26) - A horse rider in Merced was arrested after they were caught being under the influence.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers spotted someone taking Seabiscuit out for a stroll with an open alcohol container. After speaking with an officer, it became apparent that the rider on the horse was under the influence of alcohol. That’s when they were arrested for DUI.
CHP says it’s not worth riding – or driving - under the influence.
Pittsburgh (WJAC) — John Rooney, the youngest son of late Pittsburgh Steelers founder Art Rooney Sr., has reportedly passed away at age 83.
Rooney was a Pittsburgh native and a former member of the Steelers' Board of Directors.
He and his four brothers each formerly shared a minority stake in the team.
Mr. Rooney's cause of death has not been made public.

CLEARFIELD, Pa. (WJAC) — A Clearfield nursing home has confirmed a COVID-19 case, officials said.
Guardian Healthcare confirmed the case at their Mountain Laurel facility to 6 News via email Wednesday morning.
"The safety of our residents and employees is, and always has been, our top priority,” they said. “We can confirm a case of COVID-19 at our Mountain Laurel facility in Clearfield. We are following all CDC, CMS and DOH guidance for health care facilities.
